Fostering Success

Fostering Success:
Helping Foster Youth Thrive into Adulthood

Grand Oak Communities Foundation is applying to become a Georgia Fostering Success Act partner organization, so donors can support young adults from foster care through the Georgia tax credit.

The law

What is the Fostering Success Act?

Georgia's Fostering Success Act tax credit encourages donations to certified organizations that help young people who experienced foster care finish school and build stable adult lives — with support like housing, transportation, food, mentoring, and other daily essentials. Organizations are certified by the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS), and the Georgia Department of Revenue administers the tax credit.

Tax credit details depend on your situation. Please consult your tax advisor.

Support for your next step

If you spent time in Georgia foster care and are working toward school or career goals, we'd love to hear from you.

You may qualify if you…

  • Were in Georgia foster care for at least 6 months (they don't have to be in a row) after your 14th birthday
  • Are age 16 through 25
  • Are enrolled in high school, college, technical school, or a training program

Support is paid directly to providers (like landlords, repair shops, or schools), not to students. Students agree to share school progress and maintain good standing.
